Uplook - April 6
Happy April to all,
It is hard to imagine that we are already one-quarter of the way through 2024 and yet as the famous 14th century English poet Geoffrey Chaucer declared, “Time and Tide wait for no man”. The waves of life keep rising and ebbing from the shores and the clock continually moves forward. (I was going to say it “keeps ticking” but in the age of digital time keeping that metaphor is now dated). And yet along with the consistency of the waves and the passing of time, may we consider the faithfulness of God as creator and redeemer. The prophet Jeremiah, during one of the darkest times of his life at the destruction of the holy city Jerusalem declared the following:
This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. 22 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 24 The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. 25 The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord. Lamentations 3:21–26
Springtime and especially following Easter is often considered a time of hope and even joy. Yet there are challenges which come in every season of the year as well as every season of life. It is in the midst of such challenges that we as Christians still have hope because our hope is anchored in the creator and redeemer whose nature is characterized by mercy, compassion, faithfulness, and justice. And in every season of life we are called just as Paul instructed the early church in Rome to “Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.” Romans 12:15
By God’s grace may we find mercy, compassion, and hope today. Not necessarily in our circumstances or the culture around us but rather in the faithfulness of our God who sent Jesus to pay sins penalty in our place and who is now seated at God’s right hand making intercession for us.

Youth Summit - Remember the upcoming youth summit in your prayers. We currently have 13 of our folks signed up. I have heard there is still room so if you or your child have not yet registered…it is imperative that you do it today or tomorrow so the list can be finalized. While registration is online…payment for the registration fee ($140 per camper) must be made directly to the Seattle church BEFORE leaving for the Summit (April 19-21). For questions please see Bro. Alex or me.
God bless you all.
