Uplook - July 22, 2023
Dear Seattle Saints,
Happy Saturday! It is an exciting time of year with camp meetings and youth camps continuing to happen around the world. We are blessed to have 14 young people from Seattle along with 6/7 staff members who will be attending the Northwest Youth Camp which begins on Monday, July 24 and finishes on Saturday, July 29. They will join 200+ campers and staff from our churches for this annual event. Please pray for their safety while traveling and at camp as well as for their spiritual growth during this special time. For those with questions concerning transportation, please contact Bro. Alex who is coordinating.
And may all of our prayers extend beyond just Seattle, and even the northwest youth camp to churches, youth camps, and camp meetings to be held around the world this summer. Representatives from our Headquarters are slated to attend many of these meetings so pray for their safety as well.
More specifically, Lori and I will travel to Japan and to South Korea for 10 days departing while our young people are at youth camp. We will preach in our Kawasaki, Japan church one Sunday. During our time there we will also attend the formal engagement of newly ordained Kawasaki pastor Rev. Yoshiki Ohno to Sis. Rei Takahashi. This is an exciting answer to prayer as Bro. Yoshiki spent nearly a year in our Seattle congregation in 2019/2020. They plan to marry on October 14 of this year, Lord willing. We will then travel to Seoul, South Korea for the Korean camp meeting which is a gathering of saints from our 6 churches in South Korea. Please pray for our health & safety as we travel and for the saints and services in each of these places.
Many of you were able to see the newly remodeled restrooms on the first and third floor of our church. These were completed in a timely and professional manner by Dru DeLong from Honest Remodeling. Our thanks goes out to Honest Remodeling as they extended a significant discount to us as a church organization. Also since last Sunday, you will note that both parking lots have been completely resealed and striped. There are a few more smaller maintenance issues which we hope to complete before the fall and I will keep you updated on them.
And speaking of maintenance…it seems to me that between now and our scheduled special meetings (September 30-October 1) would be a good time for each of us to work on some spiritual maintenance of our own. Jude said it this way:
“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a difference…” Jude 20-21
It might look a little different for each of us but life takes its toll and each of us may need to work on our spiritual plumbing to prevent clogs or leaks. Possibly it is time for a new spiritual roof to prevent the searing sun of persecution or keep the driving rain of trial on the outside. Or maybe the basic pavement in our lives is mostly ok but still needs some “cracks” spiritually sealed, some roots ground out, and a fresh coating of the Spirit of God upon all we do. May the Lord help each of us as we do our part in “keeping the faith”.
Rich blessings to you all,
BB
