Uplook - October 10, 2026

Happy Saturday in Seattle,

I am writing from Kawasaki Japan where it is early Sunday morning already here.  Bro. Bob Bishop and I had a sucessful flight arriving here on Friday evening and were met by Bro. Kim Jeong Min, Korean Superintendent and his wife who have joined us in Japan for the weekend.   One of the Kawasaki Board members met us and arranged for transportation and our hotel for our stay.  On Saturday we had a chance to travel by train and bus to a traditional Japanese historical site which showed the various types of historical home styles in the area for the past several hundred years.  After returning to the hotel and rest we met Bro. Yoshiki Ohno, the Kawasaki pastor and his family (Sis. Rei and their two very cute girls who are now 22 months and 6 month of age) for dinner.  We had a nice time of fellowship and discussion about the Lord, the church, and our families.

Today for morning worship, Bro. Kim and his wife will sing a duet, Bro. Bob will share his testimony, and I am scheduled to preach.  My text is from Mark 8:36.  "If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed."   By God's grace we will try to share simply that sin has put all humanity into bondage but in the person and work of Jesus Christ, true freedom can be found.  Not only forgiveness but also transforming power to live victorious lives "in this present world".  Along with this we are promised an eternity in the fellowship of this Jesus who has purchased our freedom with His own death on Calvary's cross and then conquered death by His resurrection.

Please pray for Bro. Yoshiki, his family, and the beloved Kawasaki saints.  Japan does not have many Christians within their culture but we believe the Holy Spirit is still drawing people from every nation and tribe to the good news of Jesus.  We will have lunch with the saints and then a Directors meeting later in the afternoon.  We will have time to see a few sights on Monday before departing for South Korea where we will spend another week visiting our 6 churches there.   Thanks so much for your prayers and love.

Blessings,
BB
