Uplook - July 19, 2025
Greetings again from Seattle,
As most of you know, we have been in Portland for our annual Camp Meeting Convention. We along with many of you were blessed with inspired sermons and Bible teachings, uplifting testimonies of heart transformation and answers to prayer, beautiful music, and Holy Spirit filled prayer meetings. Thank the Lord for the privilege for those of us were able to attend in person and also for modern technology which allowed the services to be live streamed to those who could not attend in person.
But...we are now home again and back to the work the Lord has commissioned for each of us. I was reminded by some of the final sermons at camp of a song which I penned over 25 years ago on the day after camp meeting while walking the nearly deserted Portland campgrounds. The Sunday School lesson that year on the last day of camp had been "The Great Commission. Here are those lyrics for your consideration:
Commissioned to Go
1. The meetings are over, everyone's packed and gone.
Another year has passed with all the old songs sung.
But what has been accomplished only eternity will show.
And now they been commissioned to go...Into the world to go.
Chorus
God and preach the Gospel to everyone you see.
Spread the love of Jesus to all who are in need.
Love and work and share and pray. Everywhere and every day.
Go and preach the Gospel. Go. He said go.
2. Gathering at His table, we have been well fed.
Our longing souls now satisfied by the Living Bread.
But what about the others...who have never heard.
A still small voice is calling me to go...Into the world to go.
Repeat Chorus
We trust by God's grace that each of us will now respond to the commission which has been given to us...starting right where we are and moving outward to all the world. God bless you all. We are looking forward to seeing you all again tomorrow, Lord willing,
NOTE: For those coming from the south and traveling north...the I-5 north will be closed all weekend so you will need to plan for additional travel time to get to church. Notices state that the express lanes will be open north during the regular freeway closure. Another alternative north route via State Hwy 99 through the downtown tunnel seems to also be a viable option. After this weekend there will be a two lane reduction across the Ship Canal bridge until August 15 (and then another closure on Aug 15-18) We're so sorry for the hassles in travel. May God reward you for your efforts to be in church.
In Christ
