Uplook - June 20, 2026
Happy Saturday evening,
It has been a busy day with our young people working diligently to wash cars to help fund their upcoming Youth camp. There also have been many preparations for Father's Day. And many of us are already anticipating the upcoming Portland Camp Meeting Convention.
All of those events bring a sense of anticipation and as I was considering anticipation...I couldn't help but consider two young girls in our congregation who share birthdays today. Especially when you are young, there is a sense of anticipation as birthdays approach which rivals almost everything else. I can remember as a child announcing to my parents "Mom/Dad, did you know that there are only (insert number) of days left until my birthday?" Of course, my parents very well knew that but it seemed that my anticipation of the event needed to be shared and they needed to be reminded of its utmost importance.
I now understand that the coming of another birthday may not bring the same joyous anticipation as it once did. Yet, there is joy in continuing to live and breathe and glorify the Lord. I wonder if we sometimes loose the "wonder" of children and joyous anticipation of the simple joys which the Lord sends our way ...even when we are getting older.
As we approach camp meeting and youth camp, may the Lord hone our anticipation of just what He might do for us and others whom we know and love.
God bless you all,
BB
