Uplook - October 5, 2025

Good morning,

Greetings from Richmond, CA where Sis. Lori and I have been the last couple of days for the funeral of the beloved wife of the pastor here, Sis. Brenda Bishop.  Her service yesterday was a fitting tribute to a wonderful Christian woman who served the Lord faithfully through the years.   From a sometimes challenging childhood she gave her heart to the Lord and God did wonderful things with her consecrated life.  Today would have been she and Bro. Bob's 51st wedding anniversary.  The service paid tribute to her hard work, diligence in prayer, wonderful piano playing, and the love and care she showed to all as a "partner in ministry".   She will be greatly missed by all and especially Bro. Bob, their daughter Kristy and the Richmond congregation.  Please pray for them all.  I had the great privilege to help officiate at the service yesterday and by God's grace will preach this morning in our Richmond congregation.  Thank you for allowing us to be gone and also to Bro. Alex and Bro. Taiwoo who so faithful keep things going forward smoothly in our absence.   May the Lord give you all a good day in God's house is our sincere prayer.

I closed the funeral with the words from a song by Steve Green which seem appropriate this morning.

We're pilgrims on the journey of the narrow road.  And those who've gone before us line the way.  Cheering on the faithful, encouraging the weary, their lives a stirring testament in God's sustaining grace.  Surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us run the race not only for the prize.  But as those who've gone before us , let us leave to those behind us, the heritage of faithfulness passed on through godly lives.

Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful.   May the fire of our devotion light their way.  may the footprints that we leave, lead them to believe, and the lives we live inspire them to obey. Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful.

In Christ,
BB
