Uplook - November 11, 2023
Greetings and Happy Saturday from the Philippines.
We arrived here safely on Wednesday about noon. After lunch we rested a bit before Bible Study and then Thursday morning we traveled about 3 hours north to visit a church under construction near the city of LaUnion. On the way we made stops at three of our already established churches (Siminbaan, San Louis, & Binalonan) where we were greeted by saints, some who had taken part of the day off just to greet us. In each place we were showered with Filipino Christian hospitality (meaning lots of food and laughter). We were accompanied by the Philippine District Superintendent and his wife, Bro. Fernan (Roque) Fiegalan and Leah as well as the pastor of our Binalonan church and his wife, Bro. Jed and Sis. Elomar Torres. We spent the night at a lovely beach apartment owned by the university near our LaUnion church.
The following day we traveled up the mountain from sea level to an elevation of above 5,000 feet to the winter capital of the Philippines, Baguio City. Our church there is a converted house and several university students are boarders there as well. We had a nice prayer meeting with a devotion by one of the young ministers from the local church. After service we spent the night in a local hotel returning after lunch with the Fiegalans along with two of their adult children who are university students in Baguio. At the bottom of the hill we were met for an early dinner by a young mother with two of her children for dinner at a local restaurant. She and her husband had been graduate students Central Luzon State University near our Bagong Sikat headquarters and after graduation have accepted jobs in this northern province. They will be a foundational part of the congregation of the new church building which is nearing completion. Please pray for the work of the Lord in the north west portion of the Philippines.
We have now arrived back at the headquarters church and are preparing for a good nights sleep before tomorrows Sunday services which will be joined by a number of the nearby branch churches. Thank you all for your prayers for us and for the work here in the Philippines.
God bless,
BB
