Uplook - September 23, 2023
The rain has begun to fall this afternoon and it certainly seems as if Fall is now in full swing. We are excited about our upcoming Special meetings which begin next weekend. Bro. Pierre Hancock, pastor from our Los Angeles, CA church will be preaching for us in the Sunday Services. We will also have a Young Peoples Service on Saturday evening at 6 pm (Pizza at 5pm) with Bro. Seyi Akinrotimi, from Pullman, WA as the guest speaker. We are anticipating the rain of God’s Holy Spirit to fall in each of the services and praying the Lord will fill hungry hearts all weekend long. (And we’ll fill the hungry stomachs😊)
But before we get to next weekend we have tomorrow's services which include the final sermon in a series called “Preparation” and then in the evening service we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper and Washing of the Disciples Feet. It is a special time of remembrance and fellowship during which we remember the great price our Lord Jesus paid on Calvary’s cross; His body broken and innocent life blood poured out on our behalf followed by a precious time of fellowship between saints as we follow the Lord’s example and instructions to wash one another’s feet. I believe that this can be the best “preparation” we can all make in anticipation of the reception of God’s blessings for us next weekend. May we each allow God to mold our hearts together in unity as we worship in the beauty of holiness.
From a practical standpoint, we also have choir practice tomorrow at 3:45 pm in the sanctuary. We also will not be having Bible Study next Wednesday in anticipation of the upcoming services. There is plenty of room for all to serve during the upcoming weekend, with housing, food, music, prayer, and cleanup. May we all find a wise balance between the examples in scripture of the sisters Martha and Mary; one who had a heart to work and the other who desired to sit listening at Jesus’ feet. We find later that they both embraced Jesus as the resurrection and life. May we embrace the Lord in the same way.
