Weekly Uplook - October 8

Dear Seattle Saints,
Thank you so much for your prayers for Lori and me over the past couple of weeks.  We returned safely from the Philippines and our responsibilities there to Los Angeles last weekend where we officiated at the wedding reception for Bro. Devendra and Sis. Janeth.  We had performed a small private wedding one year ago during the pandemic when family and friends were unable to join them in celebration.  Thankfully, family from around the world and across the country were able to join them for their reception celebration where we joyfully rehearsed their story and vows again for their first anniversary.  We have since returned home and are doing our best to try to catch up on things.   Some of you may also have heard of the passing of our beloved Bro. Hidehiro Ouchi, long time pastor of our Kawasaki, Japan congregation who retired last year.  The funeral service was held quickly and as such we were not expected to travel again so soon.  We did however, send flowers and a letter or condolence to the Ouchi family.  Please remember Sis. Sumie and her children and grandchildren as they adjust to the loss of their beloved husband, father, and grandfather.  And of course continue to remember the Ruiz family in the Philippines as they also adjust to the sudden loss of our dear Bro. Joey Ruiz.

Here in Seattle we feel hints of fall approaching with cooling in the evenings and some leaves beginning to change color.  With that we are excited to announce that we have scheduled Special Meetings for the weekend of November 12-13.  Our speaker for the weekend will be Bro. Joshua Idowu, pastor of our St. Louis, MO.  We have scheduled a YP meeting for Saturday night along with our regular Sunday schedule.  He are planning to have lunch at the church on Sunday and refreshments following Sunday night, Lord willing.  We have sent invitations to our sister churches asking for prayer and support.  We have also sent the location of local safe hotels in the area.  We have not made a blanket offer of housing, in our desire not to obligate anyone in light of potential health concerns.  Should someone contact you personally about housing, we will leave that personal decision to each family. Please begin to pray for the meetings as they will be our first full Special meetings since the pandemic.

Housekeeping:  1) Phone/Contact list We are currently in the process of updating our phone/contact information list.  If you could please inform me via email or text of any updates/changes/etc.   This would include addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers.  This list is not to be shared with anyone outside our local congregation and never used for any commercial purposes.     2) Also…I will be updating the email distribution list for this weekly email …  I anticipate removing those who have moved unless they have specifically requested to be left on the email list since a similar version of this is now posted on our church website and app under “Pastor’s blog” and can easily be accessed in that manner.   3) Finally, you may have noticed some slight changes in our virtual broadcasting over the past few weeks.  We are now working on broadcasting our Sunday Evening service and Wednesday Bible Studies live from the church.  Wednesdays should look similar to before but can now be accessed via our website as well as Facebook and YouTube.  Sunday Evening broadcasts are now the entire service rather than just a devotional.  These can also be viewed live via our website as well as Facebook and YouTube.  At this time we are still working on microphone sound levels and also on proper use of copyright for music use so are not archiving Sunday evenings as of yet.  Once those issues are resolved, we will be training additional people and then moving to also broadcast our Sunday morning services as well.  Pray for us as we expand this attempt to spread the Gospel message not only to those who are unable to attend services locally but to those around the world.

God bless each of you,
BB
